Valverde Airport (VDE) Taxis

El Hierro has an official taxi service managed by TransHierro. Their fleet is licensed and authorized to operate on the island.

TransHierro taxis offer lower rates, are insured, and have passed all necessary inspections and the documents of the local government of Spain for passenger transport.

TransHierro taxis are available 24 hours daily. However, their telephone line is only open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 MN. Therefore, for services from 12:00 MN to 7:00 AM, it is necessary to reserve a vehicle ahead of time.

Taxi Services at Valverde Airport

Valverde Airport's official taxi rank is accessible outside the passenger terminal's building. Always take a taxi from the marked taxi rank and avoid taxi drivers offering services from other areas.

Taxis serving the airport are authorized metered taxis. The total taxi fare will be shown on the taximeter once you arrive at your destination. However, passengers are urged to request a receipt for any claims.

Taxi rates vary during weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. On workdays from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the minimum charge is €3.15, the price per kilometer is €1.10, and the waiting time per hour is €15.05.

Meanwhile, during weekdays, Saturdays, and holidays with time schedules from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, the minimum charge is €3.45, the price per kilometer is €1.26, and the waiting time per hour is still €15.05.

A supplemental fee of €1.70 is charged for trips to and from Valverde Airport and €0.50 for radio taxi service.

Rideshares at Valverde Airport

Rideshare vehicles are not even popular on the island. Thus, making this type of transportation non-existing. For travelers, it is recommended to take other transport options, such as car rentals, taxis, and buses.

Hotel Shuttles at Valverde Airport

Hotel accommodations on El Hierro island are limited. Therefore, hotel shuttle services are also rare. However, there are still existing lodging and apartments that offer this kind of service to their guests. Some would gladly provide it for free, and others may charge an additional fee. It is a must for travelers to verify this service to their host or accommodation to avoid arising issues and problems that could ruin their trip.
